Tears and tributes flowed freely as late Professor Lai Oso was buried on Friday, July 14, in his hometown of Sagamu, Southwest Nigeria.
Oso, a renowned professor of communication, died in a motor accident along the Ore-Sagamu expressway on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
He was coming from Delta State University (DELSU) where he had gone as an external examiner for PhD students.

At the final burial event for the scholar described by many as an Icon, and a compassionate man who lived a life of impact, over 30 professors and scores of associate professors, and about one hudred PhD holders from Universities across the World paid glowing tributes.
Platforms Africa reports that many sympathisers were moved to tears when some of those who worked closely with late Oso took the stage to describe how he inconvinient himself to make them succeed in their academic pursuits.
A renowned professor of communication. Pate, who is one of the acquaintances of the deceased said that Oso was ahead in humility as much as he was in schorlaship.
“The year he finished his PhD was the year I finished my first degree. He would not show he was my senior. He was a great friend words will forever be inadequate to describe,” Pate said.
